Appointment to new role of General Manager Asia

The Board of A2 Corporation is pleased to announce that Philip Wohlsen is to join the company in a newly established role of General Manager Asia, reporting to myself.

The development of business opportunities within Asia is a key strategic priority for the Company. At present the company is focused on the sale of A2 branded infant formula products into China and developing new opportunities for UHT milk. This new role will assume overall responsibility for managing the profitable development of the current business and developing new growth initiatives within the region. The role will be based in Sydney.

The establishment of this role is consistent with the model of driving growth through a regionally focused structure supported by appropriate corporate functions.

Philip joins A2C with an outstandingly strong skill set in marketing and sales and business development in Australia and Asia.  His previous roles have included:

  • Asia Pacific Franchise Director, OTC and Consumer Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson based in Singapore which involved developing growth and innovation strategies for market leading brands including Tylenol, Nicorette, Benadryl, Listerine and Band Aid. His achievements included repositioning and relaunching China’s OTC brands combined with a major geographic expansion program, significant improvement in quality of marketing communications and development of a pipeline of innovations focused on emerging markets. Philip also developed an effective management team which increased resource and capability for the J&J businesses in the region.
  • Previous to this, he was Marketing Director with Pfizer involved in the development of their consumer health brands.  His contributions included development of a disciplined consumer insight and marketing based approach to achieve consistent growth of the group’s leading brands. He also successfully led the re-launch of the OTC Respiratory Health business through a period of regulatory change.
  • Previously to this he was New Business Development Manager with Campbell Arnotts Group, Account Director with J Walter Thompson and held a number of trade and brand management roles at Unilever.

Philip will commence his new role in early January 2014.
