However, despite its increasing popularity, no industry-aligned definition or standard for the A1 protein free category currently exists. So, as category leaders leveraging our pioneering experience, we are sharing our position to help inform both consumers and industry.
It is not the quantity or percentage of A2-type protein in the milk, it is the absence of A1 protein that matters – That is what makes our milk special.

Ever since we developed the world’s first commercially viable beta-casein testing over 20 years ago we have continued to improve the accuracy and reliability of our testing technology.
No one has more years of experience in beta-casein protein testing than The a2 Milk Company, and no one is more confident in the quality of their products.
Whilst different systems are used across our network and product range, when it comes to sourcing and producing a2 Milk®, our farmers, factories and suppliers are held to strict standards.
